simply grateful

Our days are pretty simple. I have been trying to do some preschool activities with the kids. After getting totally overwhelmed, I sought the advice of some trusted mamas I know. They encouraged me to lighten up and enjoy the season. (Of course, they said it much nicer than this. :) ) So, now there are just a few things we do every week day... We say goodbye to Daddy as he goes off to work. Then, we go to our calendar corner. Excuse our calendar. I cut up a free one we got from the power company. I need to get a better one, but I have not made it to the teacher store yet. We talk about the day of the week and the date. Then, we read an entry from our One Year Devotions for Preschoolers and 100 Bible Stories 100 Bible Songs . I highly recommend these books if you have little ones ages 2-5.   Each week, we have a letter of the week. We fill our red bucket with things that start with this letter. We add things to it all week. On Monday, we might just have 3 items or so...b...

David wrote this story here ...but if you missed it, I'll recap. David went to dump a cup of water on his head during our recent 5k...only to discover it was red Powerade ! When he shared this story with our church recently many said that they wished they had seen it. So, David created a spoof that is short and a great laugh here

Our town has a wonderful festival each spring called the "Come See Me Festival" . It lasts about 10 days and is full of activities around town. This is where we ran the 5k. There are music events, a car show, kids activities, etc. It has been fun because the kids are really into it. Makayla and I got to go to the Teddy Bear Tea Party. Elijah didn't get to go because it was for 3-6 year olds. (Although, I was really bummed once we got there because apparently that is not a hard and fast rule. There were tons of little ones running around.) I think I was as excited as she was! I meant to take her last year, but forgot to rsvp...so I've been waiting for this one. We met her good friend Georgia Lynn and my friend, Kristy and her mom, Cindy. Today was Rock Hill's "Come See Me Festival" 5k. Heather and I used to run, before we had kids. Somewhere in the mix of 3 kids in 3 years, time for running went out the window. Over the last couple of months we started running again and thought a little competition would be good. Also, one of our good friends, Caroline, drove down from Charlotte for the race. We had a good time and it even provided an opportunity for a David stupid story: David stupid story of the day: In my vast experience of running races (two before today) I rarely take water during a race- especially during a 5k. But, I was hot and when I saw the water half-way through the race, I thought I would take some and pour it on my head to help cool down. I noticed that the trash can was close to the table and I wanted to make sure I put litter in its place, yet I did not want to slow down. So, I grabbed the cup of water and promptly dumped it on my head... only to find out it was not water, but re...

Makayla got her first haircut recently. Here are a few shots from the event. (Don't worry, she just got a trim!) She loved sitting in the big chair! After...not much difference, but it is easier to brush! (Doesn't Elijah look patient? He is so good! He had gotten a haircut that day too, but Daddy is his barber.)
