simply grateful

Here are some of the things I have in the workboxes for the week.  Again, most of my ideas are modified from http://www.confessionsofahomeschooler.blogspot.com/ and http://www.starfall.com/ . I've also recently added "Teach Preschool" on facebook and there are tons of great ideas every day.       

Our week has been a good one.  We are trying some new things with our little homeschool/preschool endeavors.  You might remember that I posted this entry about the kind of tot school things we were doing last year.  As the kids get older, I have been working to adapt it just a bit.  I wanted to share what we are up to in order to encourage other moms who are "space challenged" and do not have a room to designate as their homeschool room.  Obviously, this is a work in progress. I will be tweeking things as I go. Early in the morning, David has started doing a "God and me" time with Makayla.  I will write a whole other entry on this soon. After David leaves for work, we go to the computer to http://www.starfall.com/  to do the calendar and to do the alphabet page for the letter of the week we are on.  Then we move to the fridge for our calendar time.  The kids sing the verse for the week. Our days are pretty simple. I have been trying to do some preschool activities with the kids. After getting totally overwhelmed, I sought the advice of some trusted mamas I know. They encouraged me to lighten up and enjoy the season. (Of course, they said it much nicer than this. :) ) So, now there are just a few things we do every week day... We say goodbye to Daddy as he goes off to work. Then, we go to our calendar corner. Excuse our calendar. I cut up a free one we got from the power company. I need to get a better one, but I have not made it to the teacher store yet. We talk about the day of the week and the date. Then, we read an entry from our One Year Devotions for Preschoolers and 100 Bible Stories 100 Bible Songs . I highly recommend these books if you have little ones ages 2-5.   Each week, we have a letter of the week. We fill our red bucket with things that start with this letter. We add things to it all week. On Monday, we might just have 3 items or so...b...
