simply grateful

SO sorry that I have been so late in updating. All is well in the Petro household...busy. We are loving the warm weather and sending as much time outside as we can. We have also started a garden...hopefully, we will be enjoying fresh veggies this summer. Here are some photos of the kiddos...Karissa is actually 4 1/2 months old now. She giggles and coos all the time. Apparently the little munchkin has figured out that the Petro family is a chatty bunch!

We all got cool new Carolina t-shirts since the Tarheels won this year. Yay! Go Heels! David is still on cloud 9!

I am so grateful and blessed that Jesus came so that I might live...and He gives life to the full because it is full of Him! My amazing family is just icing on the cake to the sweet joy I have in knowing Him...He is what fills my cup to overflowing! But I am so very grateful for the blessings of family too.

It was the summer of 1984. Suntan lotion and bug spray packed beside an old 35mm camera in a bag that was as big as me, I headed to summer camp. Near the end of the week I gained the courage to ask a girl to be my girlfriend. OK, so the truth is I pressured my sister into asking the girl if she would be my girlfriend. Sitting on an old wooden fence with my sunglasses on, I awaited her response. I first noticed her in the “mess hall” earlier in the week. Later in the week I saw her walking with her friends. She smiled at me and I just knew there was hope. She was, to me, the most beautiful girl at camp. I just had to make my move… “Have him take off his sunglasses” was her response. I took them off, and I knew once she got a load of these baby blue’s she was all mine. All the other guys at camp would be so jealous! It was all a formality from here, or so I thought. We can hardly believe our little Makayla is 3 years old today. She is such a tremendous blessing to our family. She is so loving, funny, a party girl, and a bit of a diva. Her favorite color is pink. Her favorite song is "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star". Her favorite food is cake. Her favorite game is "Ring Around the Rosie". She loves helping, church, laughing, praying, playing, and tackling her brother. Makayla constantly keeps us laughing with her observations and comments. What a dear gift she is!

My amazing husband had his birthday yesterday! I meant to post, but with trying to do things around the house and take care of the three amigos, I dropped the ball here. But I really am so blessed to have David for a husband and I could gush on and on...but instead I will just do the "Ten Things I Love About David" thing. 1. David's relationship with the Lord...I'm envious and long to know God like David knows God. It is such a blessing to our family that David follows God so closely. 2. He is a romantic. :) He never fails to let me know that he loves me and always puts me first...he gives of himself extravagantly. He is an amazing husband!(He is also a tough guy...which leads me to number 10.) 3. He loves being a father. David is so good with the kids.... He gets involved in the fun, the sweet, the hard, the messy...without hesitation. 4. David is an impeccable communicator...especially of God's word. He is my favorite preacher and writer.
