Stateside Assignment August - October

Somebody once asked Rob Thomas, lead singer of Matchbox 20, why all his songs were about sad things.  I can't remember his exact response, but he basically said because during the happy times he was out living life, not writing songs.  Well, the neglect of this blog over the past few months has been because we have been happy and out living life! I have tried to select a few pictures that are representative of our time so far in the States...

We have been speaking in churches, mission conferences and WMU groups.  We have spoken in places in North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama and Texas.  Places like Abilene, Charlotte, Buffalo Gap, Rock Hill and Big Lick. We have had the opportunity to make some great connections and "reconnections" with people who have partnered with us on the field.  We have thoroughly enjoyed this time sharing about the work that God is doing in Zambia.  


Along the way we have been able to reconnect with some great people.  Here are just a few.  There were many more, just too many to post!

Not long after we got back the kids were able to fulfill one of their Stateside wishes and got to go horseback riding.  



In September we went to the beach with a bunch of friends David grew up with... and their kids.  It was a bit chaotic and loud, but every bit enjoyable.  






We left from there and headed down to Disney World.  David's parents were able to join us for a couple of days.  



Then David had the unique distinction of being one of the 2000 cases of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever in the USA each year.  

Mid October we travelled to Cary, NC to see Chris Tomlin and Rend Collective in concert.  We had really good seats and loved the concert.  We even got to meet Chris after the show.  


Of course, Heather and I had to catch up on some date nights as well.  This was for our 11th Anniversary.  


We finished out October in NC with Halloween.  


More fun was had in November as we headed to Texas.  Look for those photos to appear in the next few days!

Life together- True Community for believers

Sharing my Secrets...

Can I be honest and let you in on a personal secret?  Promise not to judge?  OK, here it is, prayer lists are challenging for me.  I know, how unspiritual is that?  Line after line of the teen who is going to be taking his driving test next Tuesday, the parent who wants her precious, sensitive daughter to land the lead role in the school play or the hip surgery for Grandma Jane.  (Grandma, Grammy, Grandmother or whatever you call her is probably ready to come and kick my shins for vocalizing it… and she probably will once she gets full use of her legs again.)  There are also those prayer requests with a more “spiritual” side like praying for the missionaries who are living in pray-for-them-again-astan.  Am I the only one that struggles with prayer lists?   Can I be honest and let you in on a personal secret?  Promise not to judge?  (yes, I started two paragraphs in a row with the same two sentences)  OK, here it is, I als...
