Ministry Monday

"Aliska" /ah-LEE-skah/ = shepherd, pastor
We are so grateful for these men!

These four men with David are the pastors in the Lundazi district.  We are so honored to come alongside them to join them in sharing  the good news of the truth of Jesus with the people in the Lundazi area.

Just today, we were talking with our language coaches about the great spiritual need in the Lundazi area.  There are many other churches here, but the churches are not teaching the truth of the Bible.  The problem is that the people are so confused with a large blend of traditional beliefs added to Bible stories. It was one of those times of deep conversation that really motivate me to study more language because we want to actively join our friends in teaching the truth.

This past weekend, a group of 6 of our new friends traveled for hours to Malawi for a Bible School Graduation.  Two pastors received their certificate. (The man on the far left being one of them, and the other is not pictured.)  A church elder also received his certificate.  These men have worked hard to complete these studies.  To attend the conference and graduation ceremony, four of the men rode their bikes 9 hours to reach the town where the conference was held.  I am so often amazed and humbled at the devotion of the Christians here...what they are willing to do and endure with joy for Christ.

We are so grateful for the many people who are praying!  We wanted to ask you to join us in praying for these guys.  We wish you could get to know them personally like we are getting the privilege to.  They face great opposition from family and society here.  They are definitely in the minority.  People ridicule them for choosing for being pastors.  They are poor because they do not cheat or make money off of their congregants.  These seem to be men of integrity.

Please lift these men up, and other upcoming leaders:  that they will study the Word daily and live according to God's word, that they will be continue to be men of integrity, that their families will be provided for and protected, that they will be servant leaders, that they will have wisdom as they pastor and plant more churches, and that God will be lifted up and glorified through them.  Please pray that we will be an encouragement to them and that we will have a strong partnership with them in order to bring hope to the many who are hopeless around us.  Thank you so much for partnering with us!  We could not do this without you!
