Life in Lundazi
We are trying to update the blog more often and since many of you asked about what life is like in Lundazi, we thought pictures would help give you a good idea. (click on pics to enlarge)
Ladies carrying things on their head. We have seen them balancing everything from firewood to a can of coke!
David frequents the bakery to buy bread and practice his Tumbuka. This day we brought the kids in so they could meet the workers. The workers loved it and wanted pics!
This is a typical scene in the shopping area of Lundazi. We also have a more traditional market area but this is the area with shops.
Padoko padoko. Means "slowly, slowly". We also use these same words to express our our language acquisition is coming along. We love this little store as they are the only place we have found here that sells butter and yogurt!
"How many people can you fit in a car here?" One more...
A street vendor. He walks around with a wide assortment of items for sale. How many different items can you count?
Here we are waiting at the airstrip for some friends to arrive. We don't have a windsock, so Makayla is holding up a trash bag so the pilot will know the direction of the wind as he does his flyover (to clear the cattle off the runway!)
I'm not sure what attracted more attention, the plane or the mazungu (white people). While Heather and David are of interest, Zambians are often most fascinated with our kids. (I guess some things are the same in all cultures!)
The pilot was kind enough to let the kids sit in the plane.
Karissa getting a roof-top view to watch the plane take off.
The kids sporting their Sweetie-pie Ribeyes and Babes Chicken dinner house hats from their Uncle Paul and Aunt Charla!
(if you live in DFW area and haven't ate at Babes yet, you are missing out! Check it out: http://www.babeschicken.com
Thanks for checking in!
